Buddhism: Daily Dharma

A short daily practice from the early Buddhist texts.

Coming soonNot yet released in app stores

Buddhism: Daily Dharma has not been released yet. Its website has the latest details, along with free tools and guides you can use today.

Overview

Buddhism: Daily Dharma is an iPhone app in development built around a small daily practice. Each day offers a passage from the Dhammapada or the early discourses with a plain explanation, a silent or guided sit with a chime, one concrete thing to try, and one question for the evening.

Evening notes go into a private journal that stays on your phone. Passages are quoted unchanged from Bhikkhu Sujato's public-domain translations, and the full library of texts is free to read.

Who it’s for
People who want a steady daily practice grounded in the early Buddhist texts, whether they are just starting or returning to it.
The problem it solves
A daily practice is easier to keep when it is small and already decided. The app sets out the day's passage, times the sit and poses one question, so there is nothing to plan.

Key capabilities

  • A four-step daily practice: read, sit, live, reflect
  • The Dhammapada and the early discourses, with a plain-English glossary
  • A silent timer from 1 to 30 minutes with an optional chime, plus guided sessions
  • A 7-day Getting Started week and a 28-day daily practice
  • A private journal that stays on your iPhone, with export and delete
  • Optional reminders

Screenshots

  • Today screen showing the day's teaching title, intention and the four steps
  • Lesson screen with a Dhammapada excerpt and its explanation
  • Sitting timer counting down with a guided cue
